Biography by Marijke Malsch

Marijke Malsch is Emeritus Professor of Empirical Legal Studies at the Open University and Senior Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR). Her empirical research explores how law works in practice, with a focus on criminal justice. She serves as a board member of the ELS Academy.

“I hope to contribute to the ELS Academy by enriching and developing new methods and research topics that are typical for Empirical Legal Studies. Citizen Science may add knowledge that is of relevance to ELS. I would specifically wish to contribute to bridging the gap between lawyers and social scientists.”
